Editorial policy

How every page is made.

Numbers come from code and stored data. Words are written from those numbers and checked before they are published.

Numbers

Probabilities, tables, head-to-head records and research figures are calculated by the program from stored results and prices. A prediction published before kickoff is stored and never rewritten; after the match the page adds the result and how the prediction compared.

Words

Match summaries, explanations and descriptions are written either from fixed templates or by a language model given only the page's numbers. Model-written text is published only if automatic checks pass: every percentage must match the data, the text must answer the main question first, stay within length limits, describe correctly whether player availability was used, and contain no betting advice. Otherwise the template is used. A language model cannot change any number.

Sources

Fixtures and results: football-data.org, and football-data.co.uk for seasons before 2023-24. Pre-match odds: The Odds API. Closing prices for the model benchmark: football-data.co.uk. Player availability: the Fantasy Premier League feed. Each page names the sources it uses and when its data was last updated.

Independence

Pages contain no bookmaker links. A difference between our model and the market is reported as a difference, not as a tip; the model record shows that closing prices have been more accurate than the model.

Corrections

If a source corrects a result or a price, affected pages are recalculated on the next update and keep their original publication date. Stored pre-match predictions are not altered.
